Bill Koning

Bio:

Bill Koning serves as the Vice President of Operations at Chicken N Pickle, the premier pickleball and dining destination in North America. He was an initial team member, commencing his tenure as the opening General Manager for the inaugural North Kansas City location in 2016. Currently, he oversees and supports all Front-of-House (FOH) and training operations, encompassing menu adherence, maintaining superior hospitality standards, and managing daily business functions.

Mr. Koning is an alumnus of Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Spartan Hospitality and Restaurant Management (HRIM). He cultivated his leadership philosophy and dedication to exceptional service and training through roles with Hillstone Restaurants and subsequently PB&J Restaurants, the latter based in Kansas City. In 2011, he accepted a General Manager position within PB&J's Red Robin franchise group. His leadership garnered him a President’s Club nomination in recognition of his team's success in increasing sales, enhancing hospitality, and fostering innovation. He concluded his engagement there in 2016 to assume his present role with Chicken N Pickle.

Chicken N Pickle has achieved national recognition for its innovative concept—a welcoming, communal outdoor environment. The facilities include pop up bars, private event spaces, pickleball courts, ice rinks, and venues for watch parties, complemented by a high-quality food and beverage program. It is an ideal venue where patrons can combine professional engagements with leisure activities, focusing on enjoyment, building relationships, and community engagement. This emphasis on community and connection was a significant factor in Chicken N Pickle receiving the 2022 KC Chamber Mr. K Small Business of the Year award.
