Joe Wagner
Owner and Winemaker
Bio:
A fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker, Joseph "Joe" Wagner has been immersed in the wine world his entire life. Growing up on the vineyards of Caymus Vineyards, he learned the craft firsthand from his father, Chuck Wagner. At just 19 years old, he launched Belle Glos, an award-winning Pinot Noir label that set the stage for his bold, fruit-forward style. He followed with the introduction of Meiomi in 2006, a runaway success that led to a record-breaking sale in 2015.
In 2014, Wagner founded Copper Cane Wines & Spirits with a vision to create high-quality, expressive wines that remain accessible to consumers. Wagner has built an impressive portfolio that includes Belle Glos, Böen by Belle Glos, Napa Valley Quilt, and THREADCOUNT, each specializing in distinctive styles of wine from regions within California.
Wagner is deeply involved in every aspect of his business, from cultivation to winemaking and marketing. His bold digital strategies have made waves, amassing over one billion views on TikTok, where he connects directly with wine lovers in an engaging, approachable way. His expansion beyond traditional wine spaces includes partnerships with Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL), placing Copper Cane wines in top stadiums.
Beyond winemaking, he has made his mark on Napa Valley’s hospitality scene, opening Quilt & Co. Tasting Room & Lounge, a hub downtown for wine lovers to gather and experience his vision firsthand.
A father of six, Wagner enjoys spending time outdoors with his children and wife Rachel. As he teaches them the craft, he hopes to pass down the family’s winemaking legacy to the next generation. For more information on Copper Cane Wines & Spirits, please visit www.quiltandco.com.
